Last Minutes with ODEN from phos pictures on Vimeo.
This has been floating around the internet for a bit now. There’s not much to say about it; it speaks for itself with a load of conviction. I feel you.

thinking about you, listening
to the rise and fall
your breathing
your dreaming
candles have all gone out,
conversations died away
everyone’s asleep, full
fed up, exhausted
you’re sleeping on my shoulder,
and with you here
i can’t get up
to reach that bottle.
words with colorado neighbor guy

It’s one-thirty AM in a rural Colorado town. Snow gently settles around the porch, adds to the eight inches already coating the ground. The cold air hurts inside and out, and I know people here die of overexposure:
“Hey, how you doin tonight?”
“Aw shit, I thought I heard somebody out here. I hear the dogs barkin and I hear ya creakin around on that snow, but you’re in the shadow there, and then you spoke and I said I thought I hear somebody. What are you doin out so late?”
“Just smokin a cigarette, man. Shovelin snow there, I see.”
“Oh, that’s bad for you– Know that, right?”
“Oh yeah. It’s a terrible habit.”
“I don’t like cigarettes. I prefer … cigarettes. The kind without tobacco in em. Fuckin glad they passed that law, sheeit. But hey, the holidays could use a little holiday cheer, huh.”
“Ha! I hear ya, man.”
“You know, if you want a little cheer I got one just down there, see. Helps for shovelin snow, and givin a bit of cheer.”
“Well hey man, you’d be the first I’d ask. Well, I’m going to call it a night. Merry Christmas.”
“Yeah don’t put to much cheer in that Christmas. ‘It’s only healthy in small amounts.’”
see you next week

Small Offerings was a great success, thanks so much to everyone who helped out, and especially to the artists and musicians. We’ve got the go-ahead for shows from the neighbors, so watch out for music and events at La Maison in the future (including the Bike Cult/TOSH New Year’s party)
I myself am off to family land for the rest of the week, so posting will probably thin out considerably until about the 28th or so. I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday and we’ll see you back here next week.
Since I’ll be busy on Friday with family stuff, here’s your Hipster Calendar:
Sunday Bike Polo at the tennis courts on Coal and 8th. 7-10pm. As far as I know, we’re not playing Thursday, as it’s Christmas Eve, but I plan to head out Sunday.
I’ll update the Calendar if more events are scheduled.
