I’ve attempted a “make something cool every day” type of exercise before, and it hasn’t ever really panned out. But now that I have a super legit blog, maybe I can be more motivated.
I call stuff like this a “dictated composition drawing”. It works on the same principle as the squiggle game, where you make a drawing based on information added first by another. This is the sharpie bleedthrough from a drawing my roommate Jack made, and I added in the figure and watercolor.
“She’s giving birth to nature stuff, see the tree?”
“I imagined she was giving birth to the apocalypse, see the smoke?”
“I like that better anyway.”

We’ve been having some really bizarre weather here lately, and it produces some interesting atmospheric phenomenon. The light was so strange at my parent’s house at dusk a few days ago, I’m glad I had my camera.

I just love the color of this photograph. Also, the one woman looking at the camera is completely captivating. More good stuff at The Library of Congress’ Flikr.
